Gusty winds overnight Tuesday toppled a massive redwood tree that crashed down onto two homes in Berkeley.
Howling winds sent a massive redwood tree crashing into a home on Berkeley's Eunice Street at around 1:30 a.m.
Berkeley resident Ben Andrews said his wife heard the crash and woke him up to call 911.
"She said that she could’ve believe that I slept through it and she said because our bedroom is right there,” Andrews said. “she could see something wobbling, wobbling, wobbling and then it just fell down.”
No injuries were reported, but video footage shows the tree did plenty of damage to one home at 2215 Eunice St. and caused roof damage to a neighboring structure.
“The fire department came and started flashing flashlights over there and I saw that it was the whole tree. It was just insane because we have two more big trees right next to it and it could’ve been our house,” Andrews said.
Berkeley fire said the tree also partially landed on another home causing minor damage to the roof. They added the gusty winds also kept them busy overnight with multiple trees down and debris spread throughout the city.

The large gust are also responsible bringing a tree branch down on a truck and knocking over restaurant heaters at an outdoor dining space on Shattuck Avenue.
