2 injured after fire inside San Jose homeless shelter unit

Fire crews and police responded to an fire inside a unit at the Arena Hotel on the Alameda in San Jose Saturday evening, which left two people injured.

The San Jose Fire Department said something inside the unit caught fire before being extinguished by a hotel sprinkler.

The department added that two people were transported with minor injuries. Several other units were damaged by the water from the sprinklers.

The hotel was recently converted into housing for the unhoused.
