Facebook Gets 1 in 4 US Page Views

Social network leaves YouTube and Google in the dust

If Facebook needed an ego boost after Thursday's National Unfriend Day, it sure got one.

Hitwise, an Internet data measurement company, released some numbers that puts the Palo Alto-based social network at the top of the traffic game.

Excluding mobile devices, Facebook attracted 24.27 percent of the market share of U.S. page views during the week ending on Nov. 13, 2010.

All the rest were lagging behind. YouTube had 6.39 percent, Google had 5.32 percent, Yahoo Search had 0.68 percent and Bing had 0.54 percent.

Facebook also had an enormous 60 percent more visitors last week than it had in the same week last year, Hitwise reports.

Looks like Facebook's well-paid employees are paying off for the company. The fact that it has more than 500 million users doesn't hurt, either.
