A house in Capitola Village went up in flames Christmas morning following an apparent explosion.

The fire broke out at a home behind restaurant El Toro Bravo on Monterey Avenue.

“We were asleep and then we heard this loud boom and we thought that a car had run into the building," Ryan Beglau said.

People who witnessed the fire unfold shared videos showing large flames engulfing the home.

"The flames were coming out of the roof, but you could see the whole inside of the apartment," Adam David said. "It was all blown out. It was all on the ground and everything. It looked like a bomb went off. I was pretty freaked out."

No one was hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
