Efforts are underway to help the family of a tennis instructor who died from injuries he suffered in a fight outside a Palo Alto bar.
Oleg Talamai reportedly got into a fight with four other men outside The Patio bar on Emerson Street in Palo Alto on Dec. 21. He was knocked to the ground and was unresponsive.
According to police reports, Talamai suffered a fractured skull and bleeding in the brain. More than two weeks later, he died from his injuries. Two people have been charged in the crime.
People at the Kim Grant Tennis Academy have started a fundraising campaign to help raise enough money to return Talamai's body to his family in Belarus.
Kim Grant said Talamai was an amazing employee and friend.
"Incredibly hard working," she said. "He did everything for the greater good. He was self-sacrificing in his time and his love for the kids. He was unconditional in his efforts."
Between a GoFundMe page and donations from a memorial for Talamai, the academy is hoping to raise enough money to allow him to be buried beside his father in Belarus.
