Google Aware of Gmail Issues

UPDATE: Turns out that 150,000 users have lost their email, chat logs, contacts and attachments, first reported on The Huffington Post. That number of addresses accounts for 0.08 percent of Google's webmail service.

The pros at LifeHacker.com have some quick tips-to-clip to help users back up any email accounts -- cloud or no cloud

How panicked would you be if you realized all your email had been suddenly deleted? Well, some users are reporting just that, according to the Huff Post.

Some Gmail users have complained on the help forums that they are missing all their emails, labels, themes, folders and other personalized settings have disappeared.

"I have lost ALL on my emails/folders etc. from gmail. Why would this happen? How can I restore everything?" wrote user bkishan.

LibertyGirlLondon wrote in a blog post, "It is clear from the Gmail forums and Twitter that hundreds if not thousands of people have had their Gmail accounts compromised. A firm believer in the concept of cloud computing, it never occurred to me that my Gmail account could one day disappear."

Google updated their App Status dashboard at 3:09 p.m. (ET) today, stating, "We're investigating reports of an issue with Google Mail. We will provide more information shortly."

Google also says this seems to only be affecting .29% of the Google Mail userbase.
