Like the People's Choice Awards, the Best Places to Work list is now chosen by actual workers. Which, as it turns out, is good news for tech companies. Techies seem to love their jobs, especially if those jobs sit in Silicon Valley.
GlassDoor, a workplace review website, polled 250,000 workers, and asked them to rate their places of business. While Bain & Company took the top spot, Silicon Valley weighed in with Facebook at #3, Google at #5, and Apple at #10. If you expand the GlassDoor list to the top 50, you'll also find Salesforce.com, Rackspace, NetApp, Intel, and others.
The survey also asked reviewers to rate CEOs. Valley leaders did well here, too - Tim Cook, taking over for Apple's Steve Jobs, scored a 96 percent approval rating. Larry Page of Google (also a recently named CEO) pulled a 92. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg checked in with a 93.
Casually perusing the comments, tech companies were not listed as easy places to work. But, employees said, being challenged is what they're looking for, and that's one of the reasons why they rate their companies so well.
