Google Wave may be dead but its legacy lives on.
The Mountain View-based company introduced a new feature on Google Docs that allows users to have real-time discussions within a document and invite new users to the conversation by email.
The comments show up on the right-hand side of the document and it includes timestamps and user names, similar to how Google Wave used to operate.
Users can also send comments to a Google Doc via email. Visually the system looks similar to notes on Word documents.
But it works more like a real-time instant message chat, without the speed.
