At some point soon, the likes of Google and Apple are going to have to create their own data networks.
Forget imagining the power of an iOS or Android device on a network that had truly unlimited lighting quick data.
Google is onto imagining what the world would look like if the technology that makes smartphones so cool was almost completely integrated within our eyes.
Wednesday the Mountain View-based tech company put that imagination into a video showing what its web-integrated glasses, called Project Glass, would look like in real life.
"A group of us from Google[x] started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment," Google wrote on its Google+ page for Project Glass Wednesday. "We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input. So we took a few design photos to show what this technology could look like and created a video to demonstrate what it might enable you to do."
Google also put out images of what the glasses might look like along with the video.
The Android-powered goggles are expected to go on sale between $250 and $600 as early as the end of the year.
While the technology looks amazing, it is sure to raise the eyebrows of privacy advocates, who may focus on the potential for hackers to gain even more access to the intimate details of everyday life.
Those fears are only going to heightened with Google's recent patent filing to listen in on the background noise of phone calls to better target ads to consumers.
