San Francisco Political Icon Harvey Milk to be Featured on Stamp

San Francisco political icon Harvey Milk now has something in common with Annie Oakley, Lou Gehrig, and Lucille Ball.

All have been honored with postage stamps.

The U.S. Postal Service announced that Milk will be featured on a special commemorative stamp next year.

He was the first openly-gay man elected to public office in California, and he is also the first activist for the LGBT community to be featured on a U.S. postage stamp.

Next year will mark 37 years since Milk joined the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
