A pair of Hells Angels motorcycle club members were shot and wounded during a clash with a rival gang at a Peninsula Mexican restaurant on Saturday, according to reports.
About 40 bikers, including members of the Vagos and Wanted motorcycle clubs, had earlier rolled into the Estrada's Mexican Restaurant on Mission Street in Broadmoor, according to the San Mateo County Times.
It's believed that the Angels heard of the meetup and sought to break it up. But since the two victims, men aged 37 and 41, transported themselves to San Francisco General Hospital and have not cooperated with authorities, details are unclear, the newspaper reported.
What is clear is that the Angels have beef with the Vagos: in Sept. 2011, a fight at a Sparks, Nev. casino left the president of the San Jose Hells Angels chapter, Jeffrey "Jethro" Pettigrew, shot to death, the newspaper noted.
At least five shots were fired at the restaurant on Saturday at around 7:50 p.m. One of the Angels was shot in the arm and the other received a wound in the stomach.
Five members of the Vagos were arrested Saturday on weapons charges, but all were arrested before the shooting and all have made bail, the newspaper reported.
Only one shell casing was found at the scene. The victims were only identified after staff at the hospital notified San Francisco police, who then tied it to the shooting in Broadmoor.
Retaliation from the Angels is likely, officials warned.
