Police in Hollister are looking for a 14-year-old girl who they believe might be headed to Mexico in the company of a 42-year-old man.
Margarita Chaparro is reported by police as endangered and missing from her home in San Benito County.
Detectives say Chaparro could be in the company of Jose Carlos Arellano, whom they are now calling a suspect in this case.
Police say Arellano is driving a silver four-door Chevrolet Silverado Texas Edition model pickup truck.
The Hollister Police Department has notified U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and the California Highway Patrol. An Endangered Missing Person Advisory has been sent out to all agencies throughout the state by the CHP-Emergency Notification and Tactical Alert Center in Sacramento.
Arellano is reportedly a family friend who was seen with Chaparro recently, according to police, who say all attempts to contact Arellano have been unsuccessful.
Chaparro is described as a Hispanic female, 14 years old, 5'2”, 115 pounds, with brown hair
and brown eyes, last seen wearing a light blue blouse and light blue ripped jeans with black-and-white low-top Converse shoes.
Arellano is described as a Hispanic male, 5’10”, light skin, with a medium build.
