Budget airliner Wow Air will offer $99 one-way flights between San Francisco International Airport and Iceland.
According to SFGate, tickets went on sale Tuesday for the newly established route between SFO and Reykjavik. Wow officially begins five weekly flights on June 10, but only 10 percent of the seats are priced that low.
Buyers should also beware hidden costs. USA Today reported that Wow's airfares may be cheap, but ancillary charges exceed those of many other commercial companies. For example, it costs $48 to check a bag and $29 to bring a carry on over 11 pounds on board.
Still, the airline will also carry passengers from SFO to major European cities such as London, Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin starting at $199 each way.
