North Bay Man Arrested on Suspicion of Sexually Assaulting Teen in 2011

A Santa Rosa man is scheduled to be arraigned in Sonoma County Superior Court on Tuesday afternoon for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in Rohnert Park in 2011.

The girl was walking in the area of Redwood Drive and Rohnert Park Expressway in November 2011 when a man who was following her forced her into Hinebaugh Creek and sexually assaulted her, according to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.

The girl described her assailant and the state Department of Justice analyzed DNA collected during a medical exam, but it did not match any known records at the time and a suspect was never arrested, public safety officials said.

In February, William Deen Brown, 39, of Santa Rosa, was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman in Rohnert Park. Brown's DNA was collected and it matched the DNA collected after the sexual assault in 2011, public safety officials said.

Brown was booked under $200,000 bail in Sonoma County Jail on two counts of assault with intent to commit rape, and one count each of forcible rape and forcible oral copulation, according to the Department of Public Safety.

Brown made admissions of being involved in the 2011 assault, public safety officials said.
