Man Dies After Crashing Into Taqueria in San Jose

An elderly man was killed Saturday morning in a solo-vehicle accident in which he crashed into a San Jose storefront, the California Highway Patrol said.

The victim was traveling south when, for an unknown reason, he veered to the left and crashed into Santa Fe Taqueria at 924 S. White Road, according to Officer Ross Lee. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No one else was injured in the crash, which was reported at 6:15 a.m. A building inspector was called to determine whether the building was safe to enter, Lee said.

The victim's identity will be released by the Santa Clara Medical Examiner's Office pending notification of family.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
