Man Shot, Killed, For Not Having Drugs

Rory Jones was shot to death after telling a suspect he didn't have any drugs.

A man was shot and killed in the Bayview District in San Francisco for telling his alleged killer that he did not have any drugs.

Rory Jones, 30, was sitting in his car at Revere Avenue and Jennings Street at 8:25 p.m. on Thursday night when a man approached him to ask if Jones had any "weight," according to police. Weight is a street term for a larger-than-normal quantity of drugs, police said in the San Francisco Examiner.

Jones said no, and the man shot him, according to police. Jones exited his car and ran down the street before collapsing. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital and pronounced dead after 9 p.m.

The suspect is described only as a man in his 20s with a red hooded sweatshirt, according to police.

Jones's shooting death is the second homicide in San Francisco of 2012.
