There was a time when the Sunnyvale High School Marching Band was something special. That time, of course, was when there actually was a Sunnyvale High School.
The school was closed in 1981, silencing a band that had gained a glowing reputation: traveling across the country to march in bowl parades and winning band competition after band competition.
When the city of Sunnyvale began planning its centennial celebration this year, though, some former band members thought it would be a good time to get the band back together and remind people what they are missing.
