Whether it be the next "Sex in the City" is still to be determined, but HBO has chosen San Francisco as the backdrop for its newest series.
Instead of following four adult women looking for love in the Big Apple, "Looking" follows the lives of three young gay men looking for love in San Francisco.
HBO President of Programming Michael Lombardo said it is as much about the City as it is about the characters of the show.
“We are thrilled to be shooting in the City,” Lombardo said.
The series stars Frankie Alvarez, Murray Bartlett and Jonathan Groff. Scott Bakula is also in the cast. He plays a wealthy and popular figure in the San Francisco gay community.
“I am thrilled to have HBO return to San Francisco,” said Lee. “Our Scene in San Francisco Rebate provides incentives for production companies to film in our City, while providing jobs and enhancing our local economy. Productions like this help showcase our world class City to the world.”
Lee adds the series will create local jobs that include cast and crew, with a citywide estimated $2 million in economic impact.

Filming of season one will begin soon and should be complete sometime in November. The season has a total of eight episodes.
Looking already shot its pilot episode back in April.
