A man in his 20s died in an officer-involved shooting in Hayward Wednesday afternoon, according to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.
The shooting happened after a traffic stop in the area of Center and Wildwood streets around 2:30 p.m.
Police are still investigating what led to the shooting and those with any information are encouraged to call Detective Mulhern at 510-293-7176.
"Anytime the Hayward Police Officers use force, regardless of degree, it is a serious matter that requires a thorough investigation," said police in a statement. "In addition to an internal investigation, that Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has been notified and will conduct an independent investigation."
