The California Highway Patrol Friday morning is continuing to investigate an early morning fatal crash on northbound U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose.
The crash occurred at 1:54 a.m. on the highway south of Blossom Hill Road.
A 1999 Subaru station wagon was traveling north on the highway when the driver veered off the roadway and onto the east shoulder, according to the CHP.
The vehicle traveled through some brush and branches before crashing into a tree and catching fire.
Firefighters responded to the scene, put out the vehicle fire and located a deceased person in the front driver's seat of the vehicle, according to the CHP.
Officials have not released the identity of the driver.
The Subaru was the only vehicle involved in the crash, and no one else was located near the vehicle, according to the CHP.
