Half Moon Bay Mass Shooting: How to Help

As we all learned about the mass shooting in Half Moon Bay that claimed the lives of seven people and injured one, community members are mobilizing to help those affected. Below is a working list of resources to support the victims and their families. We will continue to update it as the situation unfolds. Funds for Victims

Ayudando Latinos A Soñar, or ALAS, is collecting funds to support the farmworker community in Half Moon Bay and those that lost their lives. You can make a donation here. 

Emergency Supplies Drive

Farmworker Caravan is holding a food and clothing drive to support the families affected by the Half Moon Bay mass shooting and the recent floods.

The public can drop off items at the locations listed below or donate online.

South Bay

Date and time: Friday, Jan. 27; 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Location: Washington United Youth Center / Catholic Charities -- 921 South First St. B, San Jose

Peninsula

Date and time: Monday - Friday; 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Location: ALAS - Ayudando Latinos A Soñar -- 636 Purissima St., Half Moon Bay

Central Coast

Date and time: Monday - Friday; 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Location: Catholic Charities -- 922 Hilby Ave. Suite C, Seaside

Vigils

Date and time: Friday, January 27, at 5:00 p.m.
Location: Mac Dutra Plaza, 504 Main Street
Description: This will be a candlelight vigil ceremony to honor, remember, and pay tribute to the victims of the mass shooting incident. The event’s program will include song and prayer. Spanish, Mandarin, and ASL interpretation will be provided.

Date and time: Tuesday, January 31, at 4:00 p.m
Location: Boys & Girl Club Event Center at 530 Kelly Avenue
Description: Our Lady of the Pillar Church and the Coastside Interfaith Community will host a memorial service that will include prayers and healing words from the interfaith leaders in remembrance of the victims and hope for the future. Spanish, Mandarin, and ASL interpretation will be provided.

Memorial Site

A memorial site is being set up at Mac Dutra Plaza on Main Street in Half Moon Bay and all are welcome.
