A 67-year-old man died and another was left seriously injured following a shooting Tuesday in Pleasant Hill, police said.
The shooting was reported just before noon at a condominium complex parking lot on the 300 block of Twinbridge Circle, according to police.
Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing two victims lying on the ground, according to police.
First responders found the victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They were taken to a hospital in Walnut Creek.
“I heard it but thought it was a car. Then I come back and come to find out it was a shooting. And I thought it was about four to five shots,” said Sandra Williams, who was walking her dog nearby when it happened.
She said that when she reached the scene, the older man wasn’t moving, and a younger man was badly hurt but talking to medics as they took him away.
The 67-year-old man was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said. The other man was being treated for life-threatening injuries.
Williams also said she saw a speeding car with a loud muffler before and after hearing the shots.
“I did see the guy coming on in, I did see him leave but as soon as I got here I threw my dogs in the house and ran on up and saw the two men laying on the ground,” she said.

Police declined to comment on her description but say they’ll be checking surveillance cameras throughout the complex hoping at least one of them captured the shooting and the getaway.
“I can tell you that our detectives are actively working the case and canvassing the area for witnesses,” said Pleasant Hill Police Department Captain Matt Kristic.
Police said a suspect was not in custody as of Tuesday afternoon and that an investigation is ongoing.
