Some lanes of I-280 in San Jose reopen after police activity

Update, 5 a.m. Monday: Some lanes on Interstate 280 near McLaughlin Avenue in San Jose reopened just after midnight Monday after a law enforcement activity, the California Highway Patrol said.


Interstate 280 was shut down in both directions in San Jose due to a police activity Sunday night.

All lanes were shut down at McLaughlin Avenue just after 8 p.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol, their officers were on the scene with a "distressed individual."

As of 10 p.m. Sunday, two lanes were reopened. It's unknown when the other lanes will reopen.

Traffic cameras in the area showed a huge traffic backup.
