Family Dispute Prompts Shelter-in-Place in Berkeley

A family dispute prompted Berkeley police to issue a shelter-in-place order on Acton Street, between Channing and Bancroft ways Wednesday afternoon.

Berkeley police have lifted a shelter-in-place order after a family dispute apparently ended in an area of the city Wednesday, police said.

As of 5:09 p.m. the order for the 2300 block of Acton Street had been lifted

The dispute was reported to police at about 2 p.m. and officers went to the scene and spoke with one of the parties involved, police Sgt. Andrew Frankel said.

Officers tried to speak with the other person but that person apparently left before police arrived.

Frankel said no one was injured and no threat to public safety now exists. Police will continue to investigate the dispute.
