A body found early Monday at Chabot Park in San Leandro is now being investigated as a homicide and police have arrested a suspect.

East Bay Regional Park District officials said police arrested Anthony Pimentel on suspicion of homicide. Police believe the victim is Pimentel's ex-girlfriend, 18-year-old Mariah Davis, who was reported missing last week in San Leandro.

Davis's family on Monday afternoon confirmed to NBC Bay Area the body belonged to the missing woman.

East Bay Regional Parks Police on Monday closed the entrance to Chabot Park as they investigated the discovery of the body, which was initially ruled a suspicious death.

Aerial video showed several police cars at the scene and areas taped off by crime scene investigators.

No other information was immediately available.
