A preliminary 3.5 magnitude earthquake struck near Gilroy early Friday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake hit at 3:45 a.m. and was centered 2.7 miles north-northwest of Aromas, 5.3 miles east of Watsonville and 7.6 miles southwest of Gilroy, the USGS said.
No other information was immediately available.
