Preliminary 5.3 magnitude earthquake strikes Northern California

A preliminary 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck Northern California on Saturday night, according to the United States Geological Survey

The quake, which struck at 11:21 p.m., was centered about 47.2 miles west-southwest of Ferndale and 57.7 miles west-southwest of Eureka.
