If you are a registered voter living in Contra Costa County, there is no need to wait until Nov. 8 to head to the polls and cast your ballot.
The county has opened seven early voting sites throughout the county, all of which are open Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Here are the locations:
- Golden Hills Community Church, 2401 Shady Willow Ln., Brentwood
- Lafayette Library and Learning Center, 3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Lafayette
- San Ramon Community Center at Central Park, 12501 Alcosta Blvd., San Ramon
- Bay Hills Community Church, 4100 Klose Way, Richmond
- Pittsburg Library Community Room, 80 Power Ave., Pittsburg
- The Salvation Army Church, 3950 Clayton Road, Concord
- El Cerrito City Hall, 10890 San Pablo Ave., El Cerrito
The night and weekend hours have been implemented in order to make voting easier for people who can't find time to make it to the polling place on Nov. 8, according to the elections office.
Contra Costa County Elections will likely be under scrutiny during the general election, following reports in the June primary that 113 had voted twice.
“They were told by people in the clerk’s office that you can go ahead and send in more than one ballot,” Joe Koertzen, the democratic committee chair, said at the time.

Scott Konopasek, an election administrator and researcher with the county, told NBC Bay Area that he doesn’t anticipate a repeat of June’s events.
He said the county had modified procedures at the polls since the primary. On Nov. 8, voters who signed up for a vote-by-mail option will have to bring in their mailer containing all three ballot cards if they want to vote in person.
“We’ve tightened things up and clarified with the poll workers how they’re supposed to handle the situation,” he said. “So, I don’t think it will happen again.”
