San Francisco's Aquatic Park Cove — the scene of two reported sea lion attacks last week — has reopened to swimmers, the National Park Service announced Wednesday.
The frequented swimming area was closed last Friday after two swimmers were reportedly bitten, but it has opened back up because "park rangers have not observed any unusual marine mammal activity, and the park has received no new reports of animal bites."
Fire officials on Friday reported that a 60-year-old man was taken to a hospital after reportedly being bitten by a sea lion on his arm. One day prior, police said a 56-year-old man was charged by a sea lion and also bitten on the arm.
While the water has been reopened to the public, park officials have posted signs at the beach to remind people about the biting attacks.
Park officials are also advising swimmers to keep a distance of at least 50 feet between themselves and sea lions and also swim in groups if possible or swim close to the shore.
