San Francisco May Just See Some Fireworks Tonight

Fans of the flashes of colored light illumninating banks of thick fog that mark most every Fourth of July in San Francisco may be out of luck this year.

We might actually be able to see some fireworks tonight. As in actual, unobscured fireworks.

A clear sky tonight is the holiday bonus the weekend's warm weather has in store for us, according to the San Francisco Examiner. Patchy fog is expected to roll in at some time -- it's San Francisco, after all -- but not until midnight, according to Diana Henderson, a National Weather Service forecaster. That means as long as the fireworks begin as planned around 9:30 p.m., visibility should be clear, the newspaper reported.

The City's official fireworks, which are shot off along the northeastern waterfront, are one of many around the Bay Area. Revelers on rooftops can often catch the sights from fireworks shows from Marin County to the East Bay down to Foster City. Locals can find a spot to sit along the Embarcadero, Marina Green or on a well-heeled friend's Pacific Heights roof for a primo seat.

Temperatures will hit the mid-70s today. By the time folks return to work Tuesday, some cloud cover will return, but temperatures will still be a balmy 77 degrees.

Fog will be back on Thursday, the newspaper reported, by which timewe'll all have had our fill of unobscured fireworks. If the weather holds.
