Dreamforce conference in San Francisco starts Tuesday

NBC Universal, Inc. Dreamforce will be taking over San Francisco starting Tuesday. Kris Sanchez reports.

San Francisco is going to be extra busy this week.

That's because Salesforce's annual Dreamforce conference is returning.

The multi-day conference is set to start Tuesday morning at Moscone Center. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff will kick everything off with his keynote speech.

According to the Dreamforce website, attendees are expected to spend upwards of $2,500 just to attend the event.

Local businesses and restaurants are preparing for large crowds.

The Dreamforce conference this year is all about AI, specifically about using tech to create your personalized AI agent.

“I am excited to see a lot of the partner networks that they have in different tools, that are part of that network, that they are launching,” said Kelly Goles with Nvidia.

About 45,000 people from all over the world are expected to attend the event from Tuesday to Thursday.

Salesforce said Dreamforce will bring in $90 million to the San Francisco economy – some of that money going to hotels and local restaurants.

Salesforce announced Monday that it was contributing $23 million to train the AI workforce of the future. Some of that money will be going to San Francisco and Oakland schools.

“We think about it through the lens of how are we partnering with these districts and nonprofits on this journey? And what is our commitment to AI skilling and preparing them for a future that right now everyone’s learning,” said Dr. Ron Smith, Salesforce’s vice president of philanthropy.

On Wednesday at Oracle Park, Dreamforce is having a concert featuring Pink and Imagine Dragons.
