Police Investigating Shooting Outside Popular Sports Bar

Police are investigating a shooting that took place near a popular South Bay sports bar Sunday night. Cheryl Hurd reports.

Police are investigating a shooting that took place near a popular South Bay sports bar Sunday night.

The shooting happened at approximately 5:15 p.m. at the Brittania Arms bar, also known as "The Brit."

The establishment's general manager tells NBC Bay Area that the man who was shot is a bouncer who was not on duty at the time.

"Our camera systems, everything shows that he was not involved with breaking up any fight inside the location," Walters said. "So what we see is just him going out in the street, being at the wrong place at the wrong time and taking a bullet."

The victim is in serious condition at a hospital, but is expected to survive.

Several people were detained and questioned after the shooting, one of whom remains in custody.

Police say a weapon from the scene was recovered.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that the shooting took place inside the bar and was related to the 49ers-Raiders game. The shooting took place outside the bar and it is not known at this time if it was game-related. We regret the error.
