For the first time in 35 years, the Deputy Sheriff's Association is endorsing someone who isn't the incumbent.

The Deputy Sheriff's Association on Monday gathered with the Correctional Peace Officers Association to announce their dual endorsements for Captain Kevin Jensen for sheriff.

Both unions say Sheriff Laurie Smith, who is seeking a fifth term, is out of touch with the new rank and file and calling her a bully.
