SCU Lightning Complex Fire Third-Largest in California's History at Over 347K Acres

One of the massive fires burning in the Bay Area has become the third-largest wildfire in California's recorded history, according to Cal Fire.

The SCU Lightning Complex Fire burning in portions of Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced and San Benito counties follows the current LNU Lightning Complex Fire and the 2018 Mendocino Complex Fire as the largest wildfires in state history, according to Cal Fire.

In total, the SCU Lightning Complex Fire has scorched 347,196 acres and is 10% contained. Twelve structures have been destroyed, and about 20,065 are threatened by the flames.

No deaths have been reported, but five people β€” three first responders and two civilians β€” have suffered injuries, Cal Fire said.
