A firefighter was injured in a two-alarm fire at a vacant house on Hudson Street in San Francisco when the stairs beneath him gave way and he hurt his knee.
The fire, which was reported at 2:30 a.m., spread to a neighboring lot in the Bayview District and damaged the home of an 85-year-old woman on the other side. Odessa Allen, who was in bed asleep at the time, was able to escape because her grandaughter woke her.
"Oh, it's a fire, it's a fire," Allen recalled her saying. "Get out."
A total of ten people were displaced because of the fire.
Firefighters are deeming this fire suspicious because the home was supposed to be empty. One firefighters said that when they first arrived, the blaze was raging so large, they couldn't see what was burning.
Two cars and a carport were damaged in the fire.
