A little over three years after Carlos Sousa lost his life during a tiger attack in San Francisco, the San Francisco Zoo is getting a new tiger.
The zoo will get a 10-year-old Siberian tiger to replace Tatiana, who was shot by police officers after she killed Sousa.
Matier and Ross report that the zoo's only other Siberian tiger was euthanized last year.
The zoo initially said it had no plans to replace the two tigers after costly legal battles and negative press on its handling of the attack.
But zoo officials confirmed to the Chronicle that they have changed their minds and that the 295-pound Martha will be coming from the Omaha, Nebraska zoo.
Martha will arrive at the zoo in early June and undergo a health exam before being put on display.
