San Francisco company Nebia has created a new drought-friendly shower system that uses 70 percent less water than conventional shower heads, a product that could make a serious impact on water conservation efforts.
The system utilizes atomized water droplets that spray in a larger than average surface area, using an average of seven gallons of water for an eight-minute shower as opposed to the typical 20 gallons used.
Two days ago, the company posted a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter with a goal of $100,000; as of this writing, $1,385,758 has been pledged by 3,903 backers.
Incentives to donate include the chance to get a Nebia for $299 instead of the eventual retail price of $399 expected when it is available to buy next year.
Apple CEO Tim Cook is an early investor, according to Apple Insider.
