A few days after San Jose police announced that a homeless man beaten in June had died of his injuries, officers took a 20-year-old into custody in connection with that death.
Robert Samuel Jamie, who is also homeless, was arrested in connection with the homicide of Myung Shin Oh, 46, police announced Wednesday. Oh was the city's 29th homicide of the year.
Oh was found badly beaten just after 1 p.m. on June 9 under a Highway 87 overpass between San Fernando and Santa Clara streets. According to witnesses, Oh was fighting with at least one person prior to the assault.
Police Officer Albert Morales told NBC Bay Area that witness accounts and certain physical evidence links Jamie to Oh.
Morales said that police had previously arrested Jamie on an unrelated robbery charge and only recently arrested him in connection with Oh's death, which they are recommending as involuntary manslaughter.

Since the attack, Oh had been on life support at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. Police had not been able to find any of his family, but the Mercury News reported he had a driver's license out of Southern California and an address at a motel frequented by homeless people in Buena Park in Los Angeles County. His family was eventually tracked to Seoul, South Korea, according to the coroner's office.
