A Zipcar driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a crash led to a gravel spill that caused a full closure of all lanes of Highway 101 in Mountain View early Thursday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.

At about 1:43 a.m., the CHP responded to a crash involving three vehicles on northbound Highway 101 in Mountain View. A Zipcar that had been abandoned in the middle lanes after hitting the median was struck by oncoming traffic, the CHP said.

The driver got out of the Zipcar before a gravel truck hit it, spilling gravel across the highway, the CHP confirmed.

Gravel spilled after a traffic collision left all lanes closed in both directions of Highway 101 in Mountain View Thursday morning.

All northbound lanes reopened around 5:20 a.m., according to the CHP. Two southbound lanes reopened around 6 a.m. The remaining southbound lanes reopened at 6:16 a.m.

No significant injuries were reported.
