NBC Universal, Inc. A 6-year-old boy was injured Christmas night when at least one person allegedly shot into a home in Mountain View, police said Wednesday. Gia Vang reports.

A 6-year-old boy was injured Christmas night when at least one person allegedly shot into a home in Mountain View, police said Wednesday.

The shooting happened at about 8:30 p.m. on the 900 block of Clark Avenue, according to police.

Responding officers found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated. He is expected to make a full recovery, police said.

A man also suffered a non-life-threatening injury to his lower body during the incident, according to police.

Citing a preliminary investigation, police believe at least one person allegedly shot into the home before running away. Authorities searched the area, but they didn't find the suspect or suspects.

The suspect or suspects remained unidentified as of Wednesday, and a motive for the shooting was still unclear.

One of the neighbors spoke to NBC Bay Area Wednesday night as he witnessed the incident.

"During the nighttime on Christmas, that's when I heard a loud shot. I got startled because of the shot," said the neighbor, who did not want to show his face.

Other residents in the area shared a photo of the response, saying there were at least two shots that went off into the home.

Mountain View police said that several people were inside the home at the time of the incident including the boy.

"I came out from my balcony to see what was happening. I saw a family in distress. I hear crying, I hear yelling. I see the red and blue lights flashing everyone," the neighbor said. "I saw a kid being carried out by the paramedics. It was very heartbroken because it's just a little kid."

NBC Bay Area's Gia Vang knocked on the door of where the incident happened but nobody was home. Neighbors said that some members of the family came back Wednesday afternoon, packed some items and then, they took off.

Mountain View resident Patrick Travers said the family has lived at that house for a couple of years.

“I think it’s unfortunate that somebody decided that’s how they’re going to spend Christmas,” he said.

Travers said the family has lived at that house for a couple of years. While he says the family has been relatively quiet neighbors, other residents told NBC Bay Area what trouble they have in the neighborhood stems from that home.
