2 workers uninjured in flash fire at San Jose wastewater facility, officials say

Multiple people were injured and taken to a hospital after an incident at a wastewater facility in San Jose, according to the San Jose Fire Department.

Two workers were caught up in a flash fire but were uninjured at a wastewater facility in San Jose, according to the San Jose Environmental Services Department.

Fire officials initially reported that multiple people were injured and taken to a hospital, but later said no one was transported.

A spokesperson with Environmental Services later said the workers were wearing protective gear and did not suffer any injuries.

Crews responded at about 10:25 a.m. Tuesday to an emergency call from the San Jose-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility at 700 Los Esteros Road, fire officials said without elaborating on the nature of the incident.

Additionally, the fire department said it was unable to provide details about the nature or extent of the victims' injuries due to health privacy laws.

Operations at the wastewater facility were not affected, according to the Environmental Services spokesperson.
