Man accused of threatening people with knife in San Jose arrested

NBC Universal, Inc. A standoff with a suspect brandishing a knife near downtown San Jose has been resolved peacefully, police said late Thursday afternoon. 

Police on Thursday arrested a man accused of threatening people with a knife in downtown San Jose. 

At around 12:59 p.m., someone reported that a man with a knife was brandishing it at people near East San Fernando and South Third streets, according to police. 

The San Jose Police Department said its officers found the man and began negotiating a peaceful surrender, which led to an extended standoff.

It’s unclear exactly how long they were there before taking the man into custody.
