2 adults, 2 children found dead in Milpitas apartment

NBC Universal, Inc.

Four family members – two adults and two children – were found dead inside a Milpitas apartment Tuesday night in what police described as an isolated incident.

Officers were dispatched at 8:52 p.m. to the Turing Apartments, located at 1355 McCandless Dr., to perform a welfare check after family members of the deceased reported that they hadn't spoken with their loved ones in several days, police said.

When the officers entered the apartment, they found a man, a woman and two children "with obvious signs of death," police said.

During a Wednesday afternoon news briefing, Milpitas police Lt. Tyler Jamison wasn't able to provide many details about the case, citing the early stages of the investigation.

"Our detectives are diligently working to gather evidence, speak with family members and work with the coroner's office to determine the cause of death," he said.

When asked if a weapon was recovered at the scene, Jamison said police were "not prepared to make a statement on that yet."

While Jamison said the deceased are family members, he wasn't able to provide specifics on their relationships.

"Pending confirmation of their identities from the coroner's office, we don't know specifically the names of the individuals or their relationships," he said. "The detectives are still trying to piece that information together."

Police called the case an isolated incident, adding that there was no danger to the public. They also asked for patience as the investigation unfolds.

"On behalf of the Milpitas Police Department, we all have heavy hearts and want to extend our condolences to the families and loved ones affected by this tragic incident," Jamison said. "We're committed to supporting them during this incredibly difficult time."
