Fire officials on Tuesday were investigating what they deemed a suspicious blaze at a Gilroy restaurant.
The fire broke out at about 7:30 a.m. at Los Juniors Mariscos, located at 383 First Street.
No one was injured, but the restaurant suffered significant damage inside.
"There was heavy fire located on the first floor so there is burning and charring throughout," Gilroy Fire Department Division Chief Arlen Summers said.
Firefighters said the back door of the restaurant was open when they arrived, which led investigators to call the blaze suspicious. They took a number of pictures inside and flew a drone to document the scene.
"The occupancy was open and maybe not fully secure," Summers said. "Right now we do have an investigator that’s helping us on scene just to provide more information to find out what happened and what’s going on."
Firefighters from Gilroy, Morgan Hill and San Jose responded to the two-alarm fire.
