A Meals on Wheels van that was stolen last month in Oakland has been recovered.
On July 29 one of the vehicles used by Bay Area Community Services (BACS) to deliver meals to homebound seniors was stolen in the 3800 block of Fruitvale Street in Oakland.
It was found over the weekend in Hayward, according to BACS.
Someone called police to report an abandoned vehicle off of Tennyson Road. When officers investigated, they discovered the vehicle had been stolen out of Oakland, BACS said.
During the two weeks the vehicle was missing, BACS staff and volunteers used their personal vehicles to get hundreds of meals to hungry seniors.
BACS said it wants to thank the citizens of Hayward who found the vehicle, and the police officers who recognized it and recovered it without incident.
