String of Sign Thefts Strike Christmas Tree Farm

Holiday tree lot signs stolen.

A theft at a Christmas tree farm could end up costing a peninsula school thousands of dollars. Arturo Santiago explains.

The Honey Bear Tree signs are gone, all gone.

Seven signs advertising a holiday tree lot's donations to school charities have been stolen, according to the Redwood City Patch.

Honey Bear Trees is a holiday tree lot that donates 15 percent of its proceeds to 45 local schools, the news site reported. The signs, which inform "local parents about HBT's donation pledge every year," were stolen last week by an unknown thief, according to the news site.

Aaron Boyle, the tree lot's owner, hung the signs last week. He noticed them missing Saturday, according to the news site. The seven signs cost $70 each.

Redwood City police have no leads in the thefts, the newspaper reported.

The tree lots open to sell the spruces commonly known as Christmas trees on Nov. 17.
