Surveillance Video Release From Sabotaged PG&E Substation

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office has released some grainy, dark surveillance video from an April sabotage of a PG&E substation in San Jose on Metcalf Road.

The video shows bullets hitting a fence at the substation on April 16 at minutes 1:54, 2:07, 2:10, 2:57 and 3:01.

Spokesman Kurtis Stenderup said deputies are still trying to figure out who would have opened fire on the utility's substation, where bullets damaged five transformers and vandals cut underground fiber optic cables, causing 911 to go down for a while. The damage even prompted the California Independent Service Operator to issue a "Flex Alert" because of the heavy damage to the substation.

On May 22, a man dressed in all black was seen near the PG&E property about 3 a.m., and he ran when guards approached him.

PG&E is paying a sheriff's deputy to help its guards be on the lookout.
