The second annual TechCrunch Disrupt conference kicks off Monday morning but not without controversy.
The conference that pits 24 startups against each other competing for the Disrupt Cup was given a boost in the blogosphere by a supposed meeting where angel Investors illegally colluded on new company valuations. The alleged scandal is even being called "AngelGate."
TechCrunch Founder and Editor Michael Arrington says the rumors are much ado about nothing and will not be the center of the conference that kicks off at 9 a.m. Monday in San Francisco with a laundry list of speakers covering topics such as "the changing face of venture capital" and the "cultures of innovation." The conference will run through Wednesday.
There is even reportedly going to be a performance by Bay Area rapper MC Hammer and a talk by rapper turned CEO Chamillionaire.
The conference will also feature representatives from companies such as Cisco, Google, GE and Intuit.
