More than 39,000 PG&E customers still without power after storm

NBC Universal, Inc. Tens of thousands of people across the Bay Area are still without power as PG&E crews continue to repair power lines damaged by the storms that tore through the region over the past few days. Thom Jensen was in the North Bay where nearly 20,000 customers are still in the dark.

Tens of thousands of Bay Area PG&E customers remained without power Tuesday following stormy weather that battered the region.

As of 8 p.m., more than 39,000 customers were dealing with a power outage, according to the utility. Here's a breakdown by region.

PG&E said that since the start of the storm at 8 a.m. Sunday through 4 p.m. Tuesday, 390 power poles and 232 transformers were damaged in the utility's service area.

PG&E officials said crews will continue to assess damage when they can safely gain access to the impacted areas and hope to complete the majority of the damage assessments by the end of Tuesday.
