Twitter Won't Follow Facebook Down the Smartphone Hole

Facebook phones, yes. Twitter phones, not so much.

Twitter's CEO Dick Costello shot down any speculation of a Twitter-branded phone, like Facebook phones due out later this year, during his Mobile World Congress keynote Monday.

Still he says he sees a need for Twitter to be better integrated into exisiting smartphones.

Costello was still quick to point out that several smartphones already have seamless Twitter integration, like Android phones that allow users to automatically tweet pictures, according to Engadget.

By integration, Costello says he would like to see more apps that can tweet directly without having to rely on another app to do so.

Costello also revealed perhaps the most interesting tidbit of his keynote: 40 percent of all tweets originate on mobile devices and that half of all Twitter users are active on multiple platforms.
